Ilse Schrama (she/her, 1997) is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Wijk aan zee, NL
Living near the beach and surrounded by nature, she spends most of her time outside, where her biggest inspiration comes from. Her work tends to draw from her memories, surroundings, and imagination. This inspiration translates into poetic visuals, with vibrant colors and organic features that tell you a story. As a graphic designer she loves to play with letters and fonts in her works and likes to add a graffiti feel to her artworks, with grainy textures and dark thick outlines.
Ilse often works with risoprint, screenprint or blockprint. Overall the look that analog print can add to a design, plays a big role in the process. On a daily basis when she works on a project she always works analog first, and sketches out the ideas and then adds some extra details digitally. Her medium of choice would be ink and pencil, colored in digitally via Photoshop.
On the days she is not designing in her studio, she is still making things with her hands. She often sits behind her sewing machine or is knitting away in a cozy corner.
